Greetings to our family, friends, and myadoptionwebsite
community! I'm happy to report that all is well here in
our family of four! Anna Kate is thriving and we continue
to marvel at how beautifully she is adjusting to her life
here with us. At times it seems that she's been with us
much longer than six weeks. I'd been concerned about my
ability to go back to the "bottles and diapers" stage of
life, but so far it is like riding a bike . . . it came
back to me quickly! Sleep has never been Adrienne's strong
point, so we were already used to waking in the middle of
the night. : )
Adrienne is growing into her roll of Big Sister. She and
Anna Kate can play together in her room, which gives me a
little time to get something done nearby. However, It
hasn't take long for some of the expected . . . how should
I say this . . . age-old complaints to be uttered.
"HEY, that's mine!!" "Mooooom, Anna Kate just hit
me!!!" "Ewwww, she just drooled on me!" I
just have to chuckle on the inside. To be fair I must add
that Adrienne is a helper-girl . . . especially when we
are out and about doing errands. She can entertain and
feed Anna Kate in the back seat of the car like a pro!
(Anna Kate gets in her car seat and immediately holds out
her hand to Adrienne for Cheerios!) Every day I see their
relationship grow, for which I'm so thankful.
We've made
several short trips to see family and friends . . . Anna
Kathryn has now been to all the homes in our immediate
family, which means she's now been in three states! A
recent visit to Ann and Matt's home outside Cleveland
was a great milestone. During my last visit there, in
June, both Ann and I were very "expectant" . . . she with
Andrew, and me with the impending trip to China to adopt
Anna Kate. Both of us were emotional and anxious to
finally have these little ones arrive! I remember saying
that I literally could not wait until the next time
we would be there, in her house with our combined five
children. Well, that day finally had arrived and there we
sat, babes in arms, and all was well. Thank you, Lord!
Another very
fun family day was spent celebrating cousins Megan and
Ella's birthdays! No one throws a party like Aunt Kathy
and Uncle Gregg, and Anna Kate enjoyed it all . . . a
beautiful afternoon at the pool, delicious dinner, her
first taste of cake and even some fireworks!
We also made
special trips to her grandparents' homes where she soaked
in all their loving attention. How blessed we are to have
parents who are so involved in their grandchildren's
lives. While in New York at Gramma B and Pappa's house she
also met my aunts and uncle, and some cousins, which was
wonderful. I'll share photos from that trip in my next
post.
Thank you so much for taking the time to check in and see
how we're doing!! I will continue to post monthly updates
for a while, at least until Anna Kate's second birthday .
. . which I'm sure will be here before we know it!
For those
who want to see more regular photos of our two girls - In
September I'm going to begin posting family photos on the
right side of the the Family Websites page
HERE. (You'll need
to scroll down the page a bit.) I'll do my best to share
photos a few times a week. |

Anna Kate
in her usual mode: Crawling . . .

. . .
and cruising.

Having fun
