Spring 2006
We began discussing becoming parents

September 2006
We decided we were ready to become parents.
We decided that adoption was the way we wanted to create our family.
We decided to adopt from China.

June 2009
We adopted Amalie from Beijing. Amalie's Story

While surfing through a GWCA blog about a trip GWCA’s Heidi make to China to interview kids waiting to be listed for adoption while Brandy was there adopting Connor and Mia, a little boy’s face caught Brandy’s attention and she asked the question “What’s his story?” Little did we know that he too was deaf and that his file that would be released just days after Brandy’s innocent question to Heidi. God was once again calling us back to China for our soon to be youngest son. The paper chase began…

August 26, 2016
We received word that the CCCWA would allow us to reuse our dossier from Connor & Mia’s adoption to bring Lucas home. It was a huge blessing both with the paperwork and the finances.

August 29, 2016
GWCA submitted our Letter Of Intent letter to adopt Lucas.

September 2, 2016
We received our Pending Approval letter to adopt Lucas.

October 24, 2016
Our home study was finally released after being held up by Hague renewal paperwork at the agency.

October 27, 2016
We received our home study and submitted our 800a application to receive permission to adopt and bring that child into the U.S.

December 8, 2016
Lucas’s 10th Birthday

December 19, 2016
Our 800a was finally approved and arrived. It just took longer than expected.

January 18, 2017
Our additional dossier documents need to reuse our dossier from Connor and Mia’s adoption again for Lucas’s adoption arrived back to us from the various places that needed to prove they were real documents. They are now notarized, certified by the state, sealed with the Washington, DC state seal, authenticated by the Chinese Consulate in Washington, DC and off to our agency in Texas (GWCA).

January 20, 2017
Our documents have left the United States and are China bound. They will be there before Chinese New Year…Hurrah!

February 4, 2017
Our official dossier Log In Date at the CCCWA. We had to wait to log in after the Chinese New Year holiday.

February 19, 2017
We received notice the Lucas’s paperwork was now in “Review” and to expect to hear more in about a month.

March 14, 2017
The CCCWA released Lucas’s Letter Seeking Confirmation letter.

March 17, 2017
It was “Lucas Day” here. We received pictures from Lucas’s care package we sent for Chinese New Year AND we received an update from the orphanage with more pictures and video clips. WHAT A GIFT!

March 19, 2017
We received Lucas’s LSC letter and submitted our I-800 that same day.

April 4, 2017
Lucas’s I-800 Provisional Approval was released by Homeland Security.

April 17, 2017
Lucas’s NVC letter from Immigration came & we submitted his DS-260.

May 4, 2017
We received Lucas’s Article 5 today...only 1 more piece of paper left until we can buy our airline tickets.

May 15, 2017
Lucas’s Travel Approval paperwork came and we can now head to China. We are hoping that Brandy and Jonathan will be headed to China on June 2nd to bring Lucas home. Stay tuned for our itinerary on the "In China" page soon.
