About Jia
Jia, I, your mom, have been
dreaming about you since I was three. When I was three, your
aunt, my sister, was adopted from South Korea. I loved her
immediately and taught her how to do “So big!” (We’ll teach you
that too.) I knew right away that when I was older I wanted to
create a family the same way. When I asked your dad about it, he
agreed without hesitation. This is why you are named after your
aunt, Susannah. We chose this as your middle name.
For years, we called you by the first name we planned to give
you, which was Sophia. It is an old name that means “wisdom” and
we are certain you will be wise someday.
Then we learned that the name that was given to you in China was
Qi Jia Kun. “Qi” is for the area that you are from, which is
Qichun County. “Jia” means “beautiful and good.” “Kun” means
“noble and grand.” You are certainly beautiful, good, noble and
grand. We planned to keep part of your Chinese name as another
middle name, but Sophia Susannah Jia was such a big name for a
little girl.
The more we read about you, the more we felt that Jia should be
your first name. Now it is.
You were born on August 11, 2005 and live in Qichun in Hubei
province in central China. Qichun County is known as “The County
of Scholars” as many professors and doctors live there. People
from Hubei province are considered clever and “square and
sturdy,” meaning healthy and strong. What good qualities!
We learned that you are living with a foster family, and we so
thankful to them for taking such good care of you. You are
currently 22 pounds, 29.5 inches long and have one tooth! You are described as
smart with good intellectual development. You love listening to
music and playing with other children. You get excited when you
learn that you are going outside, your favorite place! You laugh
aloud and have a ready smile. You are also active and like to
express yourself. We are not sure what this means, but perhaps
you are a little firecracker! |
