It's almost time!!! We
wanted to update everyone as we get closer to referral
day!!! We *hope* to know who our daughter is and what she
looks like by the end of this week. However, our agency has
not posted the "matches have been mailed" message yet so we
know that we may end up waiting until next week.
Anticipation and excitement are running high and we look
forward to sharing her information with everyone.
We have been VERY busy
completing Kiah's nursery. The theme is "Red Thread" and
Ladybugs. I had no idea when I started the project HOW it
would look. I am so thrilled with what we have
accomplished!!! We have just a couple more little things to
do including installing her ceiling fan and painting her new
rocking chair. It has been a lot of fun creating this
nursery for her. I spend some time every day sitting in the
rocking chair imagining her there with us. I wanted to
thank my friend and co-worker April Bowman for creating the
absolutely beautiful "Red Thread" cross-stitch for Kiah's
nursery. It is one of the centerpieces of the room. THANKS
APRIL!!!
We have also been very busy
preparing for the new school year. Katelyn will be a
Freshman this year and she is on the Battlefield High School
Freshman Cheerleading Squad. The whole team attended an NCA
Cheerleading Camp 2 weeks ago and Katelyn was chosen as an
All-American Cheerleader!!! This is a great
accomplishment!!! She now had the opportunity to cheer at
the Sugar Bowl in Miami or the Pro Bowl in Hawaii. We told
her that if we can't travel to either game we will
definitely buy her the $40 sweatshirt to commemorate the
event!!! Her team is ready for the season to begin. Their
first game is scheduled for Thursday, September 15th. GO
BOBCATS!!!
Jacob is getting ready to
celebrate his 3rd birthday on September 6th. He is getting
to be such a BIG BOY!!! We realized this the other day when
he walked up to us before church and said "Does this shirt
look stupid on me?" Obviously he has been hanging out with
his older sister a lot!!! As an early birthday celebration
the whole family attended The Wiggles concert at the Patriot
Center in Fairfax, VA. Jacob is not big on live
performances so he essentially sat scared stiff in my lap
for the entire 1 hour and 30 minute show. I however danced
and clapped. Hey, gotta get our $30 (per ticket) worth,
right??? Actually, the show was great and we had a good
time. I don't think Katelyn enjoyed it very much. It was a
little out of her age range. I figured she wasn't having
fun when she leaned over and said "Do you think it would be
rude if I listened to my IPOD?" My response.... GET UP AND
DANCE!!! We ended the evening with a great dinner at Chilis
to celebrate me and Brandon's belated birthday.
Brandon and I are another
year older!!! We celebrated our birthday on August 22nd.
Yep, we have the SAME birthday!!! He is now 37 and I am 29
(for the 5th time). We celebrated on August 21st with a
linner (lunch/dinner) at a fabulous Japanese restaurant. We
decided to take the kids. Katelyn was captivated with the
fact that the chef cooked all the food in front of us while
doing tricks and lighting various food items on fire.
Jacob, however was not feeling the love. He was not
impressed with the "fire show" and wanted to leave
immediately. We had a great time.
We wanted to thank everyone
again for their support and prayers. We appreciate the
outpouring of love that we have felt for our family and our
journey to Kiah. We hope to be posting her referral
information soon!!!
Some Would Gather
Children
Some would gather
money
Along the path of life,
Some would gather roses,
And rest from worldly strife;
But I would gather children
From among the thorns of sin,
I would seek a golden curl,
And a freckled, toothless grin.
For money cannot enter
In that land of endless day,
And roses that are gathered
Soon will wilt along the way.
But oh, the laughing children,
As I cross the sunset sea,
And the gates swing wide to heaven
I can take them in with me!
