In China
All Days  |  Previous Day  |  Next Day

Saturday, March 12, 2016

Seems I had forgotten how hard some of the hotel beds in China are. Imagine covering your kitchen table with sheets and trying to sleep on it. That's pretty close! Allison and I could barely sleep. So, today we requested extra cushioning for the bed. Hopefully, sleep will come a little easier tonight!

There were 7 families on the bus headed to our medical appointment this morning. There were vision tests, hearing tests, TB tests, etc. And of course, there were tears. But not Nicole! She was very brave! I wish I could say it's all over and we could coast the rest of the week. Unfortunately, that's not the case.

Because of her medical condition, we have to have additional testing done to be sure she doesn't have TB. She had to have a chest X-ray and blood test today, and will have a 3 day sputum test. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, we have to go the clinic at 8am (before breakfast) for this test. I will spare you the gruesome details, but if we cannot accomplish this goal, we have to do it in a more invasive manner. It will also cause us to miss our Consulate appointment which will delay our departures. All that to say, we covet your prayers.

Please pray that Nicole can do what they ask her to do. Pray that the chest x-ray is clear. Pray that all the others test results are normal or at least what was expected.

After the medical visit today, each of the 8 families in our group sent a parent to work with our guide on the children's visa paperwork. Please remember these families in your prayers. Everyone has Consulate appointments coming in the next few days. Follow that with a long trip home, where the real work begins.

While I worked on visa paperwork, Allison and Nicole went out to lunch and did some shopping. We met back at the room before making a snack and bottled water run. Have I mentioned that Nicole can really eat? Well, let me assure you that she can and does!

Looking forward to sightseeing and shopping tomorrow!
