GOTCHA!!!!!
Today we woke up very early at 4:30am due to jet lag. I was
planning to get up at 6:30am so I guess I just got a jump start
on the day! We showered and got ready for the day then Skyped
with Brandon and the kids at home. We went to breakfast shortly
afterwards. We were then told that 9:30am was going to be the
magical time! The American women here are super happy that
Katelyn is a hair stylist! Katelyn spent the hour before Gotcha
time giving a hair cut and style! I hung out by the window
waiting for a glimpse of Ava!
At 9:30am we moved downstairs with our cameras. We only had to
wait a moment before seeing her come up the walkway with Donna
Zhu and her Ayi. She walked in apprehensively and Kiah handed
her a princess backpack. She cautiously took it and followed
Kiah’s lead in opening it and exploring what was inside. We
moved over to a table in the common area so the kids could play.
Her Ayi snuck out shortly afterwards and Ava noticed
immediately. She became concerned and didn’t want to leave
Donna’s side. Donna tried to hand her to me and she started
crying. About 10 minutes later we packed up the backpacks and
moved to our room. I think Ava knew what was coming. Donna
stayed in the room about 5 minutes and then handed her to me.
She cried for about 20 minutes and that was IT! She has been
happy the rest of the day. She has eaten normally and has went
to the bathroom several times without issue. We spent the day
watching movies in the movie room, playing with toys in our room
and walking around outside for a little bit. We have kept it
very low key. We have not visited any of the childrens houses
and Donna asked us not to go back into the House of Peace where
Ava lived. She is very attached to an Ayi over there and they
are afraid seeing her will upset Ava.
It has been a whirlwind day! A day which has exceeded all of our
expectations!!! God heard our prayers and answered each one! We
do expect to see tears and grieving as this journey continues.
We still have to change her out of her 2 layers of clothing and
get her into bed!
We are exhausted now due to jet lag so I will write more
tomorrow!
THANK YOU EVERYONE who prayed and donated to our fundraiser to
bring this little girl home!!!
GOD IS SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!! |
