Trip to China
All Days  |  Previous Day  |  Next Day

Saturday, December 5, 2009

Today has been a day of relaxing and hanging out at Shepherd’s Field. Jet lag still has a hold on us. We all woke up at 7am this morning with no set schedule for the day. We ate breakfast and then headed to the Movie Room for some movies. We watched Cinderella and Andre. We ate an early lunch at 11am. We decided at 1pm to try to take naps. We slept until 2pm. After getting up and doing some packing/organizing I was able to take a tour of the Houses and get some pictures for families. I made it to 4 of the 5 houses when I received the “get back here cause Ava and Kiah are screaming” phone call. After I got them calmed down I sent Katelyn out to the final house to get the necessary pictures. She fell in love with 3 little boys! One of them is already matched with a family and should be going home in the next 30 days. We hung around in our room, did some wash, ate dinner and now we are hoping for an early bedtime.

Tomorrow we will leave Shepherd’s Field at 11:30am to head out to Zhengzhou and complete the adoption process. Ava is still doing wonderfully! She saw some Ayis today but only briefly chatted with them. Later in the afternoon a different set of ladies started chatting with her and she shut the door in their faces! She hasn’t spoken to anyone from the House of Peace today. One Ayi did come by to drop off her written schedule and she peeked in the room. Ava saw her but said nothing. She is making a beautiful transition. We are still bracing ourselves for grief and sadness. 12/19 would have marked the 3 year anniversary of her arrival at PHF.

Today we were able to change her clothes so we are making progress!!!!
