FOREVER FAMILY DAY
This sweet baby, Eva Nicole Yusheng, is officially our daughter!
It's been a traumatic experience for her. Lots of tears. She is
very clingy and snuggly--wants only to be held by me. Much to
our delight, Eva perked up at dinnertime and happily tried
everything we offered her. This girl likes to eat! She has very
sturdy legs but we have no idea if she can walk. At times this
feels like the most natural thing in the world and at other
times incredibly surreal. In all, it's WONDERFUL! She is
beautiful!
This is how our day started: After several days of touring and
taking video, we realized we needed more recordable DVDs. This
was the most important day to capture on DVD! An hour before
we’re scheduled to meet our new daughter, Jeff raced out to find
the appropriate media. Luck was on our side. A nearby department
store had what we needed and we were set to record the momentous
occasion.
On our way to the Civil Affairs Office where we met Eva, we also
met the other couple who was adopting from Dongyang SWI. We hit
it off immediately and with much excitement, drove by van to the
designated location.
As we approached the building, I could see the two babies in the
arms of their nannies. One was crying hard. I knew this was our
daughter. We walked in and the nannies immediately placed these
sweet babies in our arms. I held her close and tried to
communicate from deep in my soul that she was safe and that we
were going to do everything to nurture and love her. For Eva,
though, we were strange and everything that she knew and loved
was now different. Despite her tears and fear, she snuggled in
and allowed me to try to comfort her. |
