“Some say blood is thicker than water. I say love is thicker than blood.” ~ Unknown

We completed our adoption this morning in the same office where we received Jenna yesterday—she is OFFICIALLY OURS now!!!

John and I had to put red ink thumbprints over our signatures, and they did the same thing with the baby’s footprint. We had two “interviews” and signed some more papers. The part that gets me every time is when we take an oath and promise not to abuse or abandon her. With all three adoptions, my eyes have filled with tears at that point. I can’t help but think of her birth mother and that incredibly painful decision she had to make, and of my sweet little Jenna—and all that she’s already been through in her short little life.

We’ve only had Jenna for a day, and she already fits into our family perfectly. I don’t think a little girl could possibly be more loved. Kaylee whispers in her ear, “You’re so adorable, Jenna…yes you are….wo ai ni….that means I love you.” And Madison got on the elevator with me tonight, after just leaving Jenna down at dinner. As soon as we got on the elevator, she said, “I miss Jenna, Mommy.”

Kaylee and Madison just adore her—and the feeling is definitely mutual. Jenna smiles and squeals whenever she sees them. She loves their kisses and their cuddles, and is very patient as they try to hold her, feed her, bathe her, and change her diaper. She’s a very happy baby—and she has two wonderful big sisters. We’re incredibly blessed.

Jenna is an absolute joy….she smiles and squeals and makes sweet little noises; she kicks her right leg over and over when she gets excited; she rubs her tiny little lips back and forth when she’s hungry; and she especially enjoys bath-time. She doesn’t like to sit (she’s very rigid), doesn’t like to be on her tummy (but we’re working on that), and definitely doesn’t like to get her diaper changed. She loves to do High Five with Grandad, play Patty-Cake with Nai Nai, and be held by Christin. She enjoys listening to Kaylee sing lullabies, watching Madison dance, snuggling with Mommy, and doing just about anything with Daddy. (So far, she’s a Daddy’s Girl—which is pretty special since she was the best Father’s Day present he could ever get! We got her at 9:30 am on Monday the 18th –which was really 9:30 pm on Father’s Day back home.)

It’s hard to imagine in a language with over 5,000 characters that there could possibly be a need for one more—but we’ve now discovered that apparently there is. :) Ever since we adopted Madison, one of our favorite Chinese characters has been the symbol for Double Happiness. Now, of course, with the addition of Jenna, we find ourselves in need of a character for “Triple Happiness”.

“From the fullness of His grace, we have received one blessing after another.”  ~ John 1:16

Triple Happiness

What a way to celebrate Father’s Day!

Mommy’s been waiting a long time
to hold her little girl.

Yet another kiss from Big Sister Madison.
(We do have 9 months to make up for, after all!)

Kaylee thinks Jenna is “so adorable and cute”.

Jenna loves her cousin Christin. (And so do we!!!) Jenna doesn’t even know she has 8 more cousins waiting on the other side of the world—David, Gina, Moses, Xenia, Jessica, Bethany, Kimberly, and Jonathan. They will have SO much fun together.
