Day 4 with Miss
Emme Jade went very well! She continues to show us all sides of
her genuine personality.. We have seen happy and sad today. We
even got to meet “Little Miss Stubborn!” Even when she is mad,
she is adorable!
We had an easy day today. It started with a trip to the Purple
Mountain, which is where the tomb of one of the Emperor’s from
the Ming Dynasty resides. Before we left the hotel, Jeff went to
take Emme out of her stroller to get her into our van. She
locked her legs so he couldn’t get her out.. In fact, our little
bean had a pretty impressive grip on her “chariot!” Instead of
making a big deal out of it, we decided to just put the whole
stroller upright in the van. She gave Jeff the most priceless
smile for winning round one!
We loved The Purple Mountain visit. It is a gorgeous area of
Nanjing. The sycamore trees lining the streets are amazing!
Unfortunately we got caught in a downpour so we didn’t stay as
long as we wanted to.
We dropped off Jeff and Emme Jade, and Ainsley and I ventured to
the market with our guide, Jeanne. This outdoor market is in the
square where the Confucius Temple is. The canal that runs
through the square is beautiful. I bought a few things,
including a piece of stone from the Yangtze River that I had put
on a necklace for myself. It will be a great reminder of Emme’s
birthplace. Another highlight of our time at the market was a
stop at a local teahouse. I missed this on our last trips to
China. I love how making tea is such an art here. Ainsley
enjoyed it too!
After Emme’s nap we ventured back to the market on our own. We
will never get used to the stares we get when we are out walking
around. The Chinese don’t even try to be subtle about it. We are
definitely the minority in Nanjing!
Emme continues to be a joy as we watch her opening up more. She
loves to play with her Jie Jie! Tomorrow is our last day in
Emme’s Province. We have enjoyed Nanjing very much. If the
weather cooperates we are going to take her to the Xuan Wu Lake
Park where we spent our first two days before Emme joined us
forever!
Tomorrow night, Guangzhou!!! One step closer to Sienna and
Ruby!!! Due to the time change we have not connected as much as
we would like. We miss those precious girls!!
Thanks for the sweet guest book messages. We love reading them
each day!
Blessings,
Jeff, Diana, Ainsley & Emme Jade
Dear Sienna and Ruby,
We are already counting down the sleeps until we are all

with you girls. She is busy, happy, and so much fun! She is
going to adore you both! We can’t wait to be home with you
soon!! Take care of each other! We love you!
