What we know about Harper as described by her foster mother:

-She would be very happy as long as somebody held her in arms and laughed with her all day. (So would her mommy!)
-She is very spirited and clever and has fair skin with very sensible and intelligent eyes. - She likes to observe people and the things around her.
-She can say “Mama”, Ye Ye (grandfather), Po Po (short for grandmother), and “A Yi” (Auntie)
-She likes to listen to music and play with musical toys (Todd’s daughter!)
-She can now walk independently
-She expresses refusal by shaking her red rattle
-She likes taking a bath and playing in the water with her hands and feet
-Sometimes stubborn but gets along with others
-She has a ready smile (although we aren’t sure if we will see that the first few days!)
-She loves to play by the street! (not the best thing we wanted to hear!!!)
-If she cries at midnight she wants milk and then she needs to be patted lightly. She will go back to sleep as long as she is full!

China’s Waiting Child Program
We are a part of China’s waiting child program. This is a wonderful program devised for children to become adopted who might otherwise be overlooked. Harper was born with a small hole in the two upper chambers of her heart called, Atrial Septal Defect or ASD. Currently, Harper has no limitations, symptoms or restrictions and may require surgery when she around 3 yrs. old to close the hole. We have excellent Dr’s. lined up to evaluate and treat her condition when we return home. If Harper stayed in China she would most likely not receive the medical treatment she needs to live a long and healthy life. We feel so lucky and blessed to be her parents. She truly is a gift from God and all the angels in Heaven that watch over us.

KISSES IN THE WIND
(The Waiting Child's Lullaby)

I hold you in my heart and touch you in my dreams.
You are here each day with me, at least that's how it seems.

I know you wonder where we are... what's taking us so long.
But remember child, I love you so and God will keep you strong.

Now go outside and feel the breeze and let it touch your skin...
Because tonight, just as always, I blow you kisses in the wind.

May God hold you in His hand until I can be with you.
I promise you, my darling, I'm doing all that I can do.

Very soon, you'll have a family for real, not just pretend.
But for tonight, just as always, I blow you kisses in the wind.

May God wrap you in His arms and hold you very tight.
And let the angels bring the kisses that I send to you each night.
