ON OUR WAY!
Todd and I were so excited and anxious for the trip we didn't
get much sleep last night so here we are drained and tired but
so excited to just get there! Here is a quick update: We were
way over on our baggage limits-one bag was 77 lbs. and the
airline limit was 70 lbs.! So we held up a long line and had to
open up our suitcases and take out items. We decided to give up
some of the 140 diapers we were bringing over! I can buy them in
China but we heard they leak so I have enough "American Pampers"
to cover me for about 10 days so we may be okay. Our other bags
were around 60 lbs. each! So yes for those that are reading this
and traveling to adopt soon carry more luggage and disperse the
weight. US Airways didn't charge us but Cathay charged us $300
one way. I have a feeling we will be buying another suitcase in
Guangzhou for all our souvenirs! Not sure who will carry that
one though!
On an even funnier note Todd kept telling me how I need to take
off my jewelry before we go through the metal detector at the
airport. I received a whole dissertation on how to handle my
shoes and what not to wear, etc. Guess who gets stopped and
holds up a whole other line of people? Todd! ha! The machine
kept beeping and beeping at him. Finally the guy pulled him
aside and scanned him and patted him down. Apparently it was all
the zippers on his new very cool mountain track pants!
Hopefully we will have a chance to update when we are in Hong
Kong or early Friday when we land in Nanchang! |
