On Sept 28,
2005 Lin Yongen was abandoned outside the orphanage .
Security guard of the orphanage found her and reported her
to the Nanchuan Xilu police station. In Chengxi District
Police looked for her biological parents but could not
find them and she was admitted to the orphanage on the
same day. She had cleft lip, cleft palate on the left
side. She became jaundiced and was placed in an incubator.
She stayed in the incubator for one month.
On March 27, 2006 in Beijing, she had surgery to repair
her cleft lip and it was a successful surgery. At 4 months
she could sit in a walker and move around. Baby Yongen
became a good eater, at 11 months old she was eating soft
table food. She soon became chubby.
In July 2006 she was placed with a foster family. She is
used to her new environment. She always asks her foster
family to hold her in their arms, and if she does not get
what she wants , she bursts into cries. (this was how it
was translated). She is a lovely child. She smiles a lot,
watches tv and enjoys playing with people she knows, but
she is stubborn. If she wants to eat, she has to be fed
immediately otherwise she loses her temper and cries at
the top of her voice., which can be heard from a distance.
She likes to play with her foster sister, who likes her
very much. Yongen is a pretty little girl, curious and
observant. She does not like physical activities and feels
fine to stay chubby.

Not flesh of my
flesh nor bone of my bone, but still miraculously my own. Never
forget for a single minute that you grew not under my heart, but
in it. -Anonymous
