WE ARE OFF!
Twenty hours later, we are here!
It was an early morning for as, up at 2:30 am, not going to bed
until 30 hours later. We stayed up as long as we could, going to
bed at 7:30pm China time. It was a really nice flight. Not as
bad as we thought. We arrived to find our wonderful guide Grace
with a green flag for Great Wall Adoptions. We had to make our
way through a sea of people, including about 50 Tibetan Monks
who had landed at the same time as us. We then had to make it
through a sea of cars, which drive with no inhibitions. Grace
informed us the people in Beijing are good drivers, and that it
will be worse in Nanjing! No seatbelts by the way. The hotel is
very nice. We are a short distance to grocery/convenience
stores, and a Starbucks. Ben was very happy about that! He keeps
peeking out the window to see if they are open yet! As I write
this, it is 3 am. We figure 7 hours of sleep isn't too bad for
the first night.
Today (tomorrow), we will be meeting another guide who will take
us to our bus for site seeing at the Summer Palace and the
Beijing zoo to see the Pandas. We will also meet other families
from our agency today. Goodby for now! Three days until Qwinn!
Love, Ben and Shawna
