WE ARE HOME!

View a video here

We are a little belated with letting you all know how we are doing. It has been a long 4 days, but very well worth it! We are on cloud nine. Sleep deprived, but happy. Let me catch you up.

We left Guangzhou on Wednesday afternoon, taking a train to Hong Kong. We had a very early flight out, so we had to spend one night here. All we saw of Hong Kong was the big bright buildings we passed on the way to the airport/hotel. It was surrounded by green hills, much like Hawaii. It looked like a place we would like to visit again sometime:). On Thursday morning we flew out at 8:00 am China time, boarding the plane hoping for the best prepared for the worst. Qwinn slept 1 of the 12 hours! It actually went by fast, but it was not fun. I am sure we upset many sleeping passengers. We did the best we could. We arrived at the San Francisco airport at 8:45am west coast time. This is where we declared our little cutie an American Citizen. It was done in customs, where we gave them a brown envelope prepared for us in China, with instructions NOT to open it. We never did get to see what was inside:). Oh well. And then we had a very long 8 hour layover. We were able to get Qwinn to lay down on the floor for about 3 hours, We tried to take turns sleeping, but it was only minutes. We hit a wall several times about hour 7. At this point we had been up almost thirty hours, with a grumpy toddler. We still can't believe he only slept 4 hours the entire trip.

As we flew over Spokane, Ben and I both welled up with tears. Happiness, relief, exhaustion were all emotions that crossed our minds. We were so excited to finally come home. We missed our family, friends, dogs, house, bed, food sooooo much! As we neared the end of the ramp towards the baggage claim we were greeted with such love. Our biggest fans waiting for their first sneak peek. We will make sure to give everyone more as we settle in!

Speaking of settling in.......we continue to be on cloud nine, but our little firecracker is not happy about the time zone change. We have been up every night at about 2 am for about 4-5 hours and then down for a nap, and then we try to figure out what to do next, nap, skip nap....its a bit of a nightmare. Who says you need a newborn to be sleep deprived:). Also, we have had to juggle family bed, adjustment to dogs (who also sleep with us), and daddy going to work. Qwinn has been a trooper, but we can tell he is confused. He has been a bit more clingy during the day, not wanting to be put down much. So, you must be asking, how do we do it? Cheerios! This boy loves his snack cup.

Tomorrow is Qwinn's first doctor appointment. Please pray he gets rest tonight. We are anxious and nervous for the many appointments that face us in the future. His next one is on Wednesday with his surgeon. We pray everyday for his peace and health.

We will be updating this website a couple more times. Probably a 3 month update and a 6 month. There will be quite the changes to be seen:). We can't wait to share this precious boy with everyone. He has quite the personality. He has already made so much progress with his development. He also has a jealousy streak. He was so afraid of the dogs the first day, I mean blood curdling scream scared. Now, if they come near us, he swats them on the nose and yells at them, as if to say, 'this is my mommy/daddy'. Its quite funny. He also LOVES going outside, especially in the jogger on the trail. He wants to touch everything. We are sooo in love!

Blessings to all of you! Your support has been heartfelt and appreciated. It will be such a joy surrounding our son with such gracious love.

Love,
Ben, Shawna and Qwinn
