We had another early morning, up at 4:30, in Nanjing by 10. We
were greeted my our new guide Jane. She is even more
knowledgeable than the last 2, and we look forward to her help
this week. She has 15 years and over 1,000 adoptions under her
belt. She has told us that there will be 14 families getting
their children tomorrow. Five of them are from Xuzhou, us and 4
from France. Ms. Tang is going to have a busy day! She also said
she was just there last week with another family and asked to
see Qwinn. She said he is a very happy and active boy, and very
cute! On the way to the hotel we stopped at a grocery store to
get rations for the week. Some typical foods Qwinn eats, yogurt,
steamed buns, congee with vegetables (chunky rice cereal soupy
stuff), bananas, noodles, and the Chinese version of cheerios.
When we got to the room, I instantly went into mommy mode,
transforming our room into a 'home'. It is a very nice room, we
will be possibly be spending a lot of time here. If we venture
out, there is an indoor playground we could visit. We have a
very light schedule in Nanjing as far as site seeing. The
orphanage visit will be our major experience, and a very
important one. There is also an outdoor pool here, but we
discovered there are mosquitoes, the hard way. Ben got nibbled
on a bit. Mosquitoes love him! We may have to research that
field trip a little bit more.
Not a very eventful day today, but we are so excited to be so
close to Qwinn. Call this a mental health day, while we enjoy
our last day as just the two of us! We found out that he will
arrive at 2:00 tomorrow afternoon. Ms. Tang (orphanage director)
will be driving 5 kids from Xuzhou, which is a 5 hour drive!
Please keep them in your prayers for safe travels.
Just one more thing. I wasn't sure if everyone caught on to our
update routine. I (Shawna) will be writing the updates, and Ben
will be picking out the pictures. So if anyone has any questions
(for instance the squatty potty), you will be able to direct
them to the right person. hee hee! I just want to make sure I
give my wonderful husband all the credit for his handy work! And
one more thing, we post at night before we go to bed, so we both
may seem a little punchy at times!
Good night from Nanjing! The next post will have pictures of
Qwinn!!!!!!

Do nerves make you giggly this early in the morning? |
