OUR FIRST FULL DAY
WITH SARAH JOY . . .

I know that some of you have been concerned about us since we have not posted to our website. First of all, let me just say that we are all doing great including Sarah Joy!! It seems that we can receive your emails, but we are having trouble sending and replying. We are doing the best we can, so just be patient.

Today was also a wonderful day! Sarah Joy was named for happiness and for the most part she is a very happy baby. I know that she is grieving, which also tells me that she was loved. We had a meeting today with the director of the orphanage and we were able to ask some questions. He also gave us some photos of Sarah Joy with her foster family. Apparently she lived with a couple in their 6o’s that have grown children. She was the only child in the home and very well taken care of. We found out that she stayed with her foster family until the morning of Dec.10. When she gets really upset, she calls for her foster mother. It breaks my heart, but we knew this was part of the process.

Today was filled with lots of paperwork…but Sarah Joy Le Harris is officially ours according to The P.R. of China.

After completing all of the paperwork and signing our names many times, we went to Wal-Mart. Crazy does not even begin to describe Wal-Mart in China. It was like the day after Thanksgiving x 1000!!We bought a bunch of stuff and it was around $15 (diapers, outfit, cokes, shoes for Grace, a blanket and some other stuff) Speaking of Grace, to the Chinese people in Wal-Mart, Grace was a movie star or something. Huge crowds would just gather around her and talk and touch her hair and her hands and her feet. She did great and just smiled when I asked her to. I think we probably could have left Nana at Wal-Mart for several hours!! She had so much fun!! As we were leaving Wal-Mart, Sarah Joy fell sound asleep on my shoulder.

Sarah Joy really is adjusting well to this family God has given her. She loves watching Graham and Grace. Graham really enjoys playing with her and making her smile. I don’t think she has quite figured Grace out, but she will.

Today we have a doctor coming to the hotel to see all of the babies. Sarah Joy has a slight cold, but nothing major. She is definitely eating and sleeping well! We feel so blessed!!!

Until next time,

Mike, Leigh Ann, Graham, Grace, Sarah Joy, Nana, and Grandaddy
