Greetings from the other side of the world. This is Mike and I
figured that Graham and I would give Leigh Ann a night off from
having to post although I think she looks forward to making
a "connection" with you all every day by writing these posts. We
had
another great day today as we continued bonding with Sarah Joy
and
she with us.
After breakfast we took a trip to the country-side to get a
closer
look at what life in China is really like outside the big
cities. We
went about 30 minutes outside the city to a little village that
was
primitive to say the least. It was one of the saddest things
that I
have ever seen. I am so glad that our children got to see first
hand
just how much that we have to be thankful for. God has blessed
us
all so much and we are so quick to take things like fresh
running
water and indoor plumbing for granted.
We then went back into the city and had a nice lunch at a local
Chinese restaurant. Several times during lunch I couldn't help
but
think back to those people in the village and how fortunate we
were
to be having such a nice meal. The food was good although I am
starting to long for some good old American country cooking.
After lunch we went to an area in Nanchang that is their "Times
Square" and did some shopping. Not much to say about that other
than
the girls seemed to really enjoy it.
We are all doing great and I think Sarah Joy has decided that
she
will keep us. We can really see a difference in her in just the
short time that she has been with us. Her little personality is
really starting to blossom as she gets used to us.
We really miss you all and we appreciate all the posts to the
guestbook. It is so comforting and assuring to hear that we are
in
your thoughts and prayers. God is so good.
Until tomorrow,
Mike, Leigh Ann, Graham, Grace and Sarah Joy
Hey everyone! This is Graham. We had an excellent day today!
Sarah Joy kept being her happy old self!! The country-side was
very
different!! We got to see how people not in the Nanchang city
lived. It was very interesting! ! I appreciate my house compared
to
theirs. They have concrete and/or dirt floors.
We went to a restaurant called "0971". They had a huge fish tank
with bright goldfish. There was one tank in the middle and one
underground. The food was very good, especially the noodle soup.
We all really enjoyed it!
Then we went to a shopping center. They had lots of purses and
watches/jewelry. It was really fun to look at the toy guns. It
was
a huge place!
We had a little snack at McDonalds's after that. I learned how
to
say medium fry in Chinese. We enjoyed it and took a taxi ride
back
to our hotel. The taxi ride was adventurous! They drive very
dangerous!!!
Thank you for following our journey to Sarah Joy. We'll see you
all
soon!! |
