Monday, July 10, 2006 GOTCHA DAY! We have her! Our Gotcha Day was noisy, chaotic and full of emotion. We, along with 38 other families, crowded into a meeting room in the White Rose Hotel to await the arrival of our new daughters. Some of the babies were silent and confused-looking. Others, like our Jia, made their feelings known to all. She clearly had the best vocal cords there and used them frequently. She loves her pacifier. Any time it falls out she wails like a banshee and skillfully crams it back in her mouth with her dexterous little fingers. So it’s likely you won’t see any pictures of her without it for awhile. We received a photo album of her life and she is actually smiling in one of the photos so we know she’ll get there eventually! We later had the chance to sit with a representative from the welfare institute and ask her questions about Jia. The caregiver said Jia likes to do puzzles. Jia’s obviously brilliant! We’re just thrilled to finally have her and look forward her growing comfortable with us every day.
