Today was Jia’s medical exam. If you recall, we received
information that she did not cooperate at her earlier one so
they were unable to test her vision and hearing. As you can see
from the photo, she didn’t like the one today either. Her visa
photo was taken today as well. It looks about the same.
The examiner told us that Jia was running a slight fever this
morning. Not surprising as the exam was so upsetting for her.
She’s also teething a lot. She doesn’t show any other signs of
illness and we’re keeping an eye on it.
Despite the rough morning, Jia made more progress today. I was
able to hold her three times without her constantly yelling for
Joe (albeit while feeding her some of her favorite foods, but
it’s a start). She also played by herself a few times while we
packed to change rooms (our neighbors had a party all night last
night).
She had a ball tonight feeding herself noodles. She was at her
happiest and kept saying “Da!” after she grabbed a new noodle.
Maybe she’s Russian? She also, much to our amazement, signed the
word “more.” We’ve been working on baby signs with her and had
wondered if she was getting it. We have been doing that sign a
lot and had commented earlier that she probably thinks that
“more” is her name!
We received our China Adoption Barbie today in our room. They’re
a gift to adoptive families who stay at the White Swan.
We learned that it’s supposed to thunderstorm the entire time
we’re here due to typhoon season. At least it’s cooler than
Wuhan! |
