January 2008
Update
January has been a strange month weather-wise here in the
northeast. When the ground should have been covered by a foot of
snow, Zoe was outside riding her bike, and I sat on the bench
and watched while wearing a sweater! Today, it will be in the
high 40s, and we have a sixty percent chance of rain. Go
figure!!! It’s been a mild month, to say the least.
I had a little health scare that turned out to be nothing
serious … thank the Maker! But because of this blip on the
health radar, my parents, who swore they would NEVER set foot in
our neck of the woods in winter, spent an entire week with us.
Of course, that turned out to be one of the weeks when all the
snow melted and Zoe was out riding her bike. Oh well! Maybe
we’ll travel to China next winter, and they’ll have to come here
again and experience a true cold spell.
Zoe continues to talk about, and pray for, her little sister
daily. She’ll often ask me, “Mommy, when is Lexi coming home?”
and then she’ll answer her own question by saying, “She’s just
not ready yet, is she Mommy?” Too sweet!
We had our first parent-teacher conference and found out that
our child, who used to be so quiet, has turned into quite the
social butterfly at school. Hhhmmm … we may need to have some
talks about listening during circle time. I am just so thankful
she is making friends and doing well in terms of her readiness
skills! She loves school and play dates with the friends she’s
made there. We are so lucky to raise such a smart,
well-adjusted, sweet little girl!
In terms of Lexi’s adoption, right now we are 60 LIDs (Log in
Dates) from a referral. If CCAA continues with more of the same,
we should have a referral by the end of 2008 or, worse case
scenario, the early part of 2009. If they speed up, it could be
sooner. If they slow down or stop for a few months around the
Olympics in Beijing, it could take even longer. It will happen …
it really will. In the meantime, our ability to wait patiently
is definitely being put to the test.
So, we are just making the most of our time as a family of
three, and I’m enjoying the extra one-on-one time with Zoe. |
