September 2006 Update
We are having a fun time in Tallahassee. The weather continues
to be warm and beautiful, and we’ve gone to 2 different beaches
now. The first one, Shell Beach, left something to be desired
between the seaweed and the stench. But the second time around
was awesome! We went to Saint George Island beach and it was
incredible! I actually saw dolphins swimming off shore. The sand
was warm and white and the water crystal clear. Zoe was so
excited to see the ocean and, once she warmed up to it, she
played and explored the water. She got pretty daring and we had
to rein her in a few times, as we didn’t want her going more
than a few inches deep.
Uncle Wally came for a visit this month. Zoe just adores her
Uncle Wally, and this was the first trip where she really looked
forward to seeing him and talked about him a lot. She was so
sweet because she snuggled with him and felt really comfortable
with him immediately this time around. In the past, it has taken
a few days for her to warm up.
Zoe really wants to potty train! She sits on the potty
frequently and has graduated to Pull-Ups (she’s able to put them
on herself). She knows immediately after she has gone, but we
have yet to have any success on the potty. Fingers crossed that
it happens soon! In the meantime we are cutting coupons for
Pull-Ups when they appear in the newspaper. She loves her
Pull-Ups because they have princesses on them. Last night we
picked up some real big girl underwear with Disney Princesses on
them. I’m going to see if I can use them as motivation to
actually DO something on the potty other than sit there.
Zoe has taken her tricycle out for a spin a couple of times now
that it’s not quite so hot. She’ll make it almost a quarter of a
mile before her little legs give up. And she rides at daredevil
speeds! We almost have to run to keep up with her and she LOVES
every moment! Once she decides she’s tired, she’ll walk and I’ll
drag the bike back to our starting point. She loves to explore
the ground so it can take some time, but it’s great fun for all
of us!
Nothing new to report on the adoption front. Things continue to
move at a snail’s pace in China, and it’s looking unlikely that
we’ll get a referral while we are in Tallahassee. I’m learning
to be patient and we are making the most of our one-on-one time
with Zoe. |
Our family at Lake Ella.
Definitely Daddy's girl ... at least for the moment.
What a view at St. George Island!
