March 2007 Update

March was another fun month for our family. Early in the month we took a trip to Saint Augustine, Florida. We met Uncle Wally there and took several days to explore the city. Zoe had the chance to ride a carousel at a darling little park and see the oldest wooden schoolhouse in the United States. Saint Augustine is one of the most beautiful cities we have ever been to, and we made plans to go back with Rob’s Mom and sister in a couple of months. Maybe next time we’ll tour the city in a horse drawn carriage.

We also spent an afternoon at the Tallahassee Museum of Natural History and celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with our Chinese-Irish (a.k.a. Chirish) girl by going to a parade around Lake Ella. Zoe told us her favorite part of the parade was seeing the police on motorcycles but I personally preferred the bagpipes.

For Lexi’s adoption, we took a trip to Jacksonville to be re-fingerprinted … yes … your fingerprints DO expire! It was a stressful morning of waiting over 2 hours that culminated into chaos when I had to go back to have my prints done. Zoe was with us and she threw a MAJOR temper tantrum when I disappeared from her view. Rob tried to control her, but she simply wouldn’t stop. Ultimately, the two of them were told by the security guard that they HAD to leave immediately. It was so embarrassing!!! Luckily, as soon as I was done I went out to the car and comforted Zoe (boy, was she worked up). Rob went in to get his prints done, and he had only moved back one place in line. Not fun, but at least that is out of our way. Our prints are good until June 2008. Surely we’ll have Lexi home before that date!

Later today we meet with our social worker in an effort to update our home study. Since the adoption is taking so long, we are required to re-file our request to adopt a “foreign orphan” with the US government. More paperwork … UGH! At least I know it will all be completely worth it the moment they place Lexi in my arms.

Well, that’s about all for this month but please check back in April as we’ll have some big news to share …
