September 2008 Update

September is another month that has both flown and dragged by.

Zoe began preschool for the fall and is proud to say she is no longer in the “Pee K thee little kid’s” class. She’s in PreK 4 and loving it! She has the same teacher and classmates as last year although she will be the first to point out that there are four new students now. I am so happy she truly enjoys school and has many friends that she looks forward to seeing each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Zoe mastered a new milestone this month. For a long time she and I have been working on learning how to skip. Last Monday after school, she grabbed my hand and gleefully skipped to the car. I am so excited for her and she is really proud of her accomplishment. I asked her if they worked on skipping in gym, and she said, “No. I just taught myself.” YEAH!!!

Zoe also moved up in ballet. Last year she was in Creative Movement. This year she has graduated to Pre-Ballet Level A. Miss Bonnie, who is a wonderful and gifted teacher, is her ballet instructor again this year. Zoe is starting to recite some ballet terminology and is proud of the new things she is learning each week. You should see her arabesque … it’s quite lovely.

Chinese language and dance started this month as well. This year she will focus not only on speaking Chinese, but will also begin to learn to write some Chinese characters as well. And the dance she is learning for Chinese New Year is too adorable!

To explain where we are in terms of Lexi’s adoption, I want to share a brief interchange our family had last night.

Me: What is your gut telling you? Will it be next week or next month?

Rob: For what?

Zoe: For Lexi’s wefowal Daddy.

Apparently, Zoe and I have Lexi’s adoption on the brain 24/7. Rob is so busy and working so hard, that I cannot randomly bring up the adoption in a circumspect manner and expect him to be able to know what I’m talking about. Oh well!

BUT, last month CCAA referred through 2/09/06. We were logged in on 2/17/06. We are only eight days away!!! This month, the rumors have it that CCAA may send referrals with a cut-off between 2/15/06 and 2/17/06. So stay tuned … we may be posting about Lexi’s referral next week. And if we miss the cut-off this month, it is very likely that we’ll hear something the first week of November. Either way, the end to our wait is in sight, and we are over the moon about learning more about our precious daughter that is waiting for us in China. It won’t be much longer now …
