February 2007 Update
February started off with a bang in our household. Zoe FINALLY
figuring our how to pee on the potty! Her first day was filled
with numerous successes followed by five M&Ms each time. Well,
she ended up on a major sugar high by bedtime. She was literally
bouncing off the walls and, when we went to put her to bed, she
took a flying leap that landed her face first on the bookshelf
above her bed. We quickly realized she’d split her cheek open
and rushed her to Urgent Care. The doctor suggested Dermabond
instead of stitches, as that was far less traumatic. Zoe was
terrified and in a lot of pain, but she was a real trooper. We
were really proud of how brave she was! The injury did not curb
her potty success, however, and she was pretty much trained from
day one. Although we did lower the number of M&Ms she received
each time. On day two she got three M&Ms because she is three
years old. However, that night she still had a sugar high. So on
day three she received one M&M for each hand. She was happy with
that and she was able to calm down and go to bed that evening
with little problem. Now if only she would agree to poop on the
potty …
Aside from potty training, little else has happened with us this
month. Except for when Rob became REALLY sick throwing up
repeatedly throughout the night and, after getting a shot from
the doctor, basically slept for 36 hours straight. Some kind of
virus. Poor thing!
We also celebrated Chinese New Year with others at a Chinese
buffet and went to the beach for a weekend. All in all, it was a
good month.
WE HAVE ADOPTION NEWS!!! After ninety plus days, our log in
month FINALLY made it out of review. Our agency checked and it
turns out we are approved to adopt again this time. Woohoo! We
did the happy dance that day!!! In addition, we celebrated our
one-year anniversary of being logged in to adopt from China. I
have to believe we are on the downward slope now and we are
definitely more than halfway through our wait!!! |
